Following the thematic structure of the exhibition, the set of photographs in this show comprises a critical interpretation of the visual in the landscape The exhibition proposes images that collectively suggest the rich array of the landscape; the experiences and a re-thinking of its latent qualities, offering a complex analyses of the traditional view, communication systems and the physical dimensions of the view—thus advancing a new spectrum of experience and engagement.
The synchronized and heterogenous character of the contemporary landscape, is juxtaposed to the image and the human intervention is in a format that is open to multiple readings. Insightfully, Mazzanti communicates a symbolic character of the contemporary landscape and the ubiquitous phenomena of the earth and the challenging light effects, manipulations of temperature and climate, as well as the subtle, mostly hidden, signs of regeneration in the environment, lying just beyond traditional interpretations. The photography of Mazzanti explores overlooked modes of perception, offering a complex analysis of landscape phenomena and proposing a new ‘sensorial’ approach to the “bella vista”. He focuses on fundamental physical conditions of the landscape with his personal interventions in these environment; nocturnal landscapes, seasonal time, surfaces and the landscape itself.
