ART IN
MYSTERIES OF NATURE
by Rossella Mezzani

Published by Polistampa, the latest work of photographer Paolo Mazzanti is titled “The Approach”. This work reveals, through new and intense compositions, the landscapes surrounding Pesaro, his hometown. The shots, printed in large format, are the result of a long engagement with and careful, continuous exploration of the natural world. Mazzanti’s high technical skill and heightened sensitivity allow him to bring out the sensory aspect of every photographed element, enabling us, through the compositions, to reach the heart—the very essence—of nature. Nature is examined in the smallest details of streets, rocks, grasses, soil, and water, in fragments of turf, algae, and bark, creating exciting visions for the mystery they contain and the aesthetic rigor they imply. From these works, where each shot seems to seek roots, origins, and the most hidden and unsettling mysteries of nature, the vision sometimes expands to capture the broader panoramas. As the author states, his intent is to “share the vision of the landscape, the images, and the elements present in nature that inspire me, but I also want to feel a certain kind of vibration in the air when I wander through the countryside searching for a site or when I bring materials to the studio to check exposure, color, and form.”
